Eligibility
Participants should meet the following qualifications:
1. Students and graduates on the KSI-KCC or
general Korean language learners (prospective learners of KSI-KCC; the participant should be enrolled in KSI-KCC upon successful selection)
2. Must be at least 18 years old
3. Participant’s parents do not speak Korean as their native language
4. Able to legally enter South Korea in October 2024 to join the Korean Training Program or the final round (applicable only to the 1stand2ndplacer)

Contest Guidelines
•︎ The participants must choose one topic among the following choices:
o 내가 가장 멋있었던 순간 (The coolest moment of my life)
o 내가 경험한 특별한 한국문화 (Special Korean culture I have experienced)
•︎ Participants will register through an online form where they will submit the following:
o Photo of participant’s valid government-issued ID
o Written script
◾︎ The file should be in .pdf format
◾︎ The file name should be 2024KSIFScript_SURNAME-FIRSTNAME
(2024KSIFScript_DELACRUZ-JUAN)
o The deadline of submission is on June 12, 2024, 11:59 PM.
o During the assessment of entries, the panel will assess the scripts of the participants. The panel is composed of Korean teachers who are experts in the Korean language. Ten (10) entries will be shortlisted, however, that number may change depending on the number of entries received.
•︎ Preliminary Round
o Shortlisted participants will be given 4 minutes to present their speech. Afterwards, the panel of judges will ask two questions related to their speech pieces.
o The panel of judges will select the two (2) best participants and 3 special awardees.
o The 1stand2ndplacerswillbeinvitedtoKoreanTrainingPrograminSouthKorea.
o KCC will award tokens and certificates to the finalists.
•︎ Criteria for Judging
o Content: 30 points
o Fluency: 30 points
o Accuracy: 20 points
o Pronunciation: 20 points
•︎ Prizes
o 1stand2ndplacer: KSIF-sponsored participation for the Korean Training Program in Korea
o Finalists: token and certificate of participation
o For 1stand2ndplace winners, a history of taking classes at King Sejong Institute after selection is required.
◾︎ In the case of absence of a KSI record, the winner has two options: (1) register for a King Sejong Institute class before the final round or (2) forfeit his/her slot in participating for the Finals Round in Korea.
•︎ Note: The finalists will shoulder the expenses going to KCC Philippines should s/he be selected for the onsite preliminary round on June 21.
•︎ KCC Philippines will conduct the Preliminary Contest and endorse the 1stand2ndplace winners to the King Sejong Institute Foundation for their assessment.
•︎ Expenses related to the winners’ participation in Korea in October 2024 will be shouldered by the KSIF.
