<K-Comics World Tour in the Philippines> June 20, 2024 - August 10, 2024 The first exhibition of the 'Korean Webtoon World Tour,' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), will be held in the Philippines. This exhibition will explore how Korean webtoons, which lead the entertainment industry, have been formed and expanded, featuring works such as 'The Red Sleeve' and 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim.' 〈The Red Sleeve〉 The Red Sleeve, aired as a Korean drama in 2021 starring Lee Junho and Lee Seyoung, received much acclaim for its depiction of traditional Korean beauty. Based on the historical story of King Jeongjo, the 22nd king of the Joseon dynasty, and his concubine, Ui-bin Seong Deok-im, this work reaffirms the popularity of Korean webtoons. 〈What's Wrong with Secretary Kim〉 Aired as a Korean drama in 2018 starring Park Seo-joon and Park Min-young, 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim' is based on a webtoon by Kim Myung-mi and Jeong Gyeong-yun. Introduced to various audiences not only through TV but also through multiple platforms, this work gained international attention, including in the Philippines, where it was adapted into a drama. It stands as a successful example of the OSMU (One Source Multi-Use) strategy. *OSMU(One Source Multi-Use) : A marketing strategy that aims to apply a single source material across different genres to maximize its impact. The exhibition will include scenes from the webtoons and immersive spaces where visitors can experience locations from the webtoons. Additionally, there will be opportunities to try on character costumes, participate in coloring book activities, and enjoy various experiences as webtoon protagonists. <Address> Metropolitan Museum of Art at BGC 30th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines <Contact Information> info@koreanculture.ph +63-2-8555-1709/1711 <Visiting Hours> Tuesday-Friday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and public holidays *The exhibition is free of charge.

<Modern Literature Pop-up Exhibition, "K-Lit: Turning Pages of Korea"> October 13 – November 18, 2023 Korean modern literature is becoming a part of the Korean Wave or Hallyu. International award giving bodies started recognizing the excellence of Korean literature starting in 2016 when Han Kang's <Vegetarian> won the International Booker Prize and became a worldwide bestseller. After that, nominations came in for other literary pieces such as Han Kang's <The White Book> in 2018, Hwang Sok-yong's <At Dusk> in 2019, Chung Bora's <Cursed Bunny> and Park Sangyoung's <Love in the Big City> in 2022, and Cheon Myeongkwan's <Whale> in 2023. In addition to that, various genres of Korean Modern Literature, including novels, cartoons, and essays, has been nominated and has been recognized by international award giving bodies. Korean Modern Literature’s remarkable growth over the past decade comes from the exquisite harmony of its universal sensibility and cultural characteristics. Translations are also playing a major role in the growth of Korean Literature. Magnificent literary works are translated and published in different languages, which open doors of opportunities for readers worldwide to enjoy these literary pieces. As we celebrate Hangeul Day every 9th of October, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines presents its first ever Modern Literature Pop-up Exhibition, "K-Lit: Turning Pages of Korea", which aims to lay the foundation into introducing Korean literature in the Philippines - starting with some of the well-received books globally this year. As this exhibit shows a glimpse of the rich Korean Modern Literature, we hope that it will encourage more Filipino readers to dive into this side of Korean culture. <Address> Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, 59 Bayani Road, Taguig City, Metro Manila <Inquiries> info@koreanculture.ph +63-2-8555-1709/1711 <Operating Hours> Mon-Fri 9:00 – 16:00 Sat 10:00 – 16:00 *Only up to 40 people can be accommodated inside the exhibition hall. **No admission fee.
