Encounters - World Beyond
Encounters – World Beyond, a special exhibition of the 2021 ASEAN-ROK Culture Innovation Summit organized by the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) introduces works by three media artists representing the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore, as well as the Summit archives.
This exhibit, which will take place from September 3rd to September 16th, asks questions about the non-materialization of modern art, which is rapidly increasing amid the Covid-19 pandemic. It also addresses how societies and their people can meet and work together in an age characterized by anxiety and uncertainty through the works of three artists who use technology-based media, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and holograms.

2021 ASEAN-ROK Culture Innovation Summit is held with the theme of culture and technology, the future global growth engine, to enhance the cooperation of ASEAN-ROCK countries and explore the opportunity of growth through exchanges. Especially this year, under the theme ‘ASEAN-ROK Thriving Together through Culture and Technology’, the summit suggests the direction of ASEAN-ROK countries by sharing the experience and know-how of ASEAN-ROK experts who’ve been challenging the paradigms of culture/art and technology while addressing the current situation of ASEAN-ROK interaction and future possibility.
In addition, through the Archive of the ASEAN-ROK Cultural Innovation Summit in this exhibition, various video archives of ASEAN-ROK cultural exchanges can be found, including the highlights from the Summit and the Asia Culture Center’s Asia Traditional Orchestra, which conveys songs of comfort and hope by traditional Korean and ASEAN musicians.
