New Notice for Students who will take Korean Language Classes for F6-1 Spouse Visa Requirements

Starting June 2021, the Korean Cultural Center – King Sejong Institute will now be integrating courses for visa-purpose students and general students. There will be no separate class for spouse visa students anymore.

Students who will be applying for the F6-1 Spouse Visa must complete and pass both 1A (60 hours) and 1B (60 hours) courses for a total class completion of 120 hours. After the successful enrollment for 1A class, students who will take the course for visa purposes will be required to submit a set of requirements as listed below:

  • Student’s Passport-sized Photo (taken within the last 6 months)

  • Student’s Government-issued ID with date of birth (Passport is preferred)

  • Korean Fiancé/Spouse ID (Passport or National Identity Card)

If a student passes the exam for 1A, he/she will be eligible to take 1B. After completing 1B course, a Korean Language Proficiency Certificate will be issued for visa purposes.

Registration System:

As KCC classes are all conducted online for now, the registration system is through slots raffle only.

Registration for 1A:

An announcement for raffle sign-ups will be posted together with the class schedule for the upcoming term. Students must remember that slots will be chosen at random using a third-party website (www.commentpicker.com).

There will be no special registration for spouse visa class students for 1A course.

Registration for 1B:

Students who will enroll for 1B course for visa purpose will have to complete and pass 1A course first. Upon completion of 1A, they will be given a slot in 1B course, but only for the succeeding term. If they choose to take 1B in another term, their slot will be forfeited, and they will have to join the slots raffle.

For example, you have been chosen through the slots raffle to take 1A and passed the course during Term 2. You are then eligible to continue to 1B in Term 3 with a guaranteed slot. However, if you choose to take a break and take 1B in Term 1 of 2022, you will then have to join the slots raffle again.

2021 Term Schedule:

  • Term 2: June 7 – August 14

  • Term 3: October 4 – December 11

*Important Note: All students who wish to take 1A and 1B courses for visa purpose will have to accomplish it in two terms, you cannot take 1A and 1B at the same time on the same term.

  • Student’s Passport-sized Photo (taken within the last 6 months)

  • Student’s Government-issued ID with date of birth (Passport is preferred)

  • Korean Fiancé/Spouse ID (Passport or National Identity Card)
