Updated Guidelines for taking Online Korean Language Classes at the Korean Cultural Center
The Korean Cultural Center will continue to offer online classes for the rest of the year. With this, we would like to update the guidelines for students who wish to enroll in our online classes.
Pre-Term Instructions
KCC’s Term 2 will run from June 7 to August 14 (10 weeks). The language classes are open to Philippine residents who are at least 13 years old.
Class schedules for Term 2 will be posted on the KCC Facebook page on May 28 (Friday) at 5pm.
KCC’s Language Courses will be renamed as stated below:
*old KCC students (2020-2021) who completed their online courses will only need to indicate their Student Number. For new KCC students with Korean Language background, please take the online level test at https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/front/page/participation/onlineLevelTest/main.do
*old KCC students (2011-2018) who completed the old language curriculum must take the online level test at https://nuri.iksi.or.kr/front/page/participation/onlineLevelTest/main.do to know their level corresponding to the Sejong Hakdang curriculum. Certificates from the old classes will not be honored as valid pre-requisites anymore as KCC is now following the Sejong Hakdang curriculum.
Class Registration
All classes are free. KCC is not offering paid classes.
The registration for classes is only through signing up for a raffle slot. Students will be chosen at random using a third-party raffle website (www.commentpicker.com).
Sign-ups will be accepted only at the specified time and date. For Term 2, sign ups will happen on May 31 (Monday) at 10AM to 2PM only. The registration link will be posted at exactly 10AM and will close at exactly 2PM on May 31.
Please choose only one class and sign up once. Multiple entries will be automatically cancelled.
Posting of raffle results will be on June 1 (Tuesday) at 5pm.
Students who are awarded a slot will receive a confirmation email by June 2 (Wednesday). To confirm their slot, students must submit a valid ID within 24 hours after receiving the confirmation email. The name on the ID must be the same as the one used to register during the raffle sign ups. Slots are not transferrable.
For students who will take 1A class for spouse visa purposes, you will need to submit additional requirements. Please refer to the “New Notice for Students who will take Korean Language Classes for F6-1 Spouse Visa Requirements”. Please do not send your requirements unless you are awarded a slot during the raffle.
Failure to submit a valid ID and other requirements will mean forfeiture of slot. The slot will then be given to the next person on the waitlist.
KCC will draw five (5) additional people per class who will be placed on waitlist.
Students who will register for higher-level courses (1B and higher) are required to submit their course completion certificates (if old KCC student from 2020-2021) or online level test result (if new KCC student with Korean Language background or old KCC student from 2011-2018) upon raffle sign up.
Attending the Classes
All students are expected to have a good device and stable internet connection that allows them to open their video during the class. Online classes at KCC are live and interactive and teachers always expect the students’ active participation without disruptions.
The first week of the term will be an evaluation period. Teachers will check if the students’ internet connection and device are stable enough to be able to attend the class seamlessly. Should there be instances when the student cannot attend the class due to poor internet connection, the slot will be cancelled and KCC will give it to the next person on waitlist.
KCC expects all students to have a 70% attendance in class. Students are only allowed to be absent for 6 times. If the student exceeds the allowed number of absences, they will be considered dropped from the class and no certification will be issued regardless of final exam results.
All students who will be awarded slots are expected to complete their classes dutifully.
