The Korean Cultural Center and together with the Association of Royal Craft Culture will open the Korean Royal Heritage Craft Exhibition from November 2-8, 2016 at Shangri-La Plaza, Ortigas (Grand Atrium).

Korean Royal Heritage, a fusion of both tradition and modernity, aims to promote the value of creation through the rediscovery and diffusion of imperial Korean Craft. This exhibition is managed by the Korean Women’s International Network and Korean Women’s Association in the Philippines, supported by Korea Craft Art’s Association, and sponsored by the Korean Royal Heritage Gallery.

120 years ago, the Korean Royal Palace intended to inform the world of the land of morning calm, the Korean Empire Government, by presenting imperial crafts to France and other countries to restore the autonomy. Such a spirit of traditional craftsmen now comes to be a representative of a culture that represents Korea.

This exhibition will show handicrafts of imperial craftsmen, including mother-of-pearl works, Korean lacquers, ceramics, folk painting, textiles, gold and silver crafts, and Jiseung, Korean art of paper weaving.

In addition, prior to the opening ceremony, the Korean Cultural Center will be conducting workshops about mother-of-pearl lacquer, Jiseung (Hanji), and Korean boudoir (Gyubang) crafts.

Admission to the exhibit is free. For more information you may contact Korean cultural center at 555-1711 or info@koreanculture.ph.
