. Program Overview

Program Title: Korean Culture and Language Immersion Program: K-CLIP 2014

Period: July 13 ( Sun.) ~ July 27 (Sun.), 2014: 15 days

Venue: Pusan National University

Organizer: Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities

Superintendent: TPO Secretariat

Host: Pusan National University, Busan Metropolitan City, Ulsan Metropolitan City, Daegu Metropolitan City, Gyeongju city and Jeollabuk-do (Iksan, Gunsan, Jeonju)

Background: K-CLIP-2014 is a two week program designed specifically for international students from Asia Pacific, learning or interested in learning Korean language and culture. The program is designed with main focus on language study, culture learning and travel.

Purpose:

    To offer an opportunity for international students from Asia Pacific Region, who are currently studying or interested in studying Korean language and culture, to live and study in a Korean speaking environment

    To offer effective and intense Korean Language classes despite of the students` previous level of the Korean language proficiency (from brand new beginners to advanced learners)

    To provide diverse field trips, that will help students to experience traditional and modern Korea through visiting country`s most popular tourist destinations

    To provide challenging curriculum as an opportunity for in-depth understanding of the country and people through various cultural activities.

 

Advantages of the Program: Working with one of the most prestigious universities in Busan and in Korea – Pusan National University - K-CLIP offers the international students a purposeful and effective summer vacation plan, and gives following advantages:

    Learning and improving Korean language with native Korean teachers (available to all levels: beginners/ intermediate/ advanced)

    Learning about Korean history and culture through fun lectures in English

    Living in an authentic Korean environment and learning Korean traditional values and modern tendencies through theory and practice

    Visiting some of the best tourist attractions of the Korean Peninsula

    Building strong long-lasting friendships with Korean and international friends

 

Language of the Program: English & Korean

Number of Participants: 60 students

Participant Eligibility and Qualifications: International students, who are interested in Korean language, culture and / or travel. The program is suitable for any student with an enthusiasm for new experiences.

   Participation Fee : 1.000 USD

   Fee Inclusions: all expenses except for the round-trip flight ticket

 

Awards:

1)       Memorable gifts and participation certificates to all participants (60 persons)

2)       Top 3 most diligent and active students will be awarded with participation in December 2014 Korea Travel Expert Program (all-expenses-paid)

3)       Special awards for the best presentation team “Korea Through My Eyes”

 

 

. About Program

 

1)      Program Concept:

“Let`s dive into Korean language and culture together!

The main objective of the program is to gather international students from Asia Pacific and broaden their knowledge about Korean language, culture and travel. The program is composed of various components, such as intensive Korean Language Course, specials lecture, cultural experiences, excursions and field trips.

 

    Students will be able to develop their Korean language skills and communicative abilities through various exercises such as reading, singing songs, listening and writing, watching movies. Professional native teachers will help the intermediate and advanced learners to improve their knowledge, while the beginners will be able to discover and develop an interest in a new language. For the convenience of students who just start their journey into the world of Korean language, our teachers will conduct the classes in English.

 

    Program participants will immerse into Korean culture through special lectures on Korean history and culture, and through cultural experiences, such as cooking Korean food, Taekwondo, Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) etiquette and tea ceremony, etc.

 

    Students will have a chance to travel around Korea and enjoy the excursions, while visiting popular tourist attractions of Busan and many other areas of the Korean Peninsula. Aside from the field trips, our participants will have more time to explore Busan by spending time with Korean students through our buddy support program.

 

    International students will be encouraged to participate with enthusiasm in program`s activities and to make a final group presentation about experiences they gained during K-CLIP under the concept “Korea through my eyes”. Each group is free to choose to make a presentation in the form they like the most: stage play, song, dance or Power Point Presentation. One winning team will be awarded with the memorable prizes at the closing ceremony.

 

    Top 3 most diligent and active students of K-CLIP 2014 will be awarded with participation in December 2014 Korea Travel Expert Program according to the results of the Korean Language final test and daily involvement in program`s activities.

 

 

2)      Program Composition:

 

I. Korean Language Course

Groups / Classes

3 groups (20 students each). The class groups will be formed according to the results of the placement test

Approximately 30 hours during two weeks term

III. Team Project
